3rd Coast Café—This Chicago Gold Coast American Restaurant  is nestled in the heart of the Gold Coast at the corner of Dearborn and Goethe. Our vintage location has been a site for famous restaurants since the 1920’s and the Coast continues that heritage today. The kitchen is open from 7am to 11pm daily.

The oldest café in the Gold Coast will surprise you with culinary delights.

We are proud to source locally, use “free bird” chicken, farm fresh eggs and Angus prime beef. Locals love the options of breakfast all day, incredible salads, sandwiches and a nightly changing dinner menu, including fresh seafood, steaks and vegan items. We offer selected boutique wines, hand crafted beers and full bar.

The 3rd Coast Café is as Chicago as Wrigley Field.

From early morning fresh baked scones to late night dinner, wine and music, “the Coast” is an off-the-beaten-track treasure—full of timeless ambiance, good old fashioned food and cocktails.

  Great food and great art?

With a passion for both, we've combined them—for over twenty years the walls of the 3rd Coast Café have been ever changing in support of cool new art and the artists who create it.  Paintings, photography or sculpture, for sale, transform the rooms; with each new exhibit the restaurant takes on a new expression, while always remaining the Coast at heart.

Best bistro in Chicago... there's a reason this relaxed icon endures recessions, Chicago winters, etc.: nowhere else will you have more of a modernized old-world atmosphere, circa the idealized 1880s Intellectual-Bohemian Paris and be able to enjoy great flavors, endless coffee, and some of the greatest thinkers and socialites throughout the entire city.
